Deyanira Cavazos, M.S.

Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate

Hi, my name is Deyanira Cavazos and I am a Latinx bilingual Counselor, born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley.

I am passionate about our community’s mental health and believe in providing counseling services from a culturally sensitive perspective that recognizes individual stories and life experiences, while incorporating evidence-based techniques. I aim to create a safe space where clients can feel seen and heard as they explore their mental health needs. I empower clients to set goals, process experiences and emotions, and learn healthy coping skills that they can apply in their daily lives.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services at the University of Texas-Pan American with a specialty in Addictions, and then pursued my Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Some of my most valuable experiences included community mental health agencies where I worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families who encountered crisis situations. Children and adolescents face unique circumstances. Our work together helped to empower them, as well as with their families and community. By helping them link to resources and create a treatment plan that fit their needs, they developed skills that fostered impactful change.

In my leisure time, some of the things I enjoy include traveling, plant care, watching movies, and spending time with my loved ones and pet rabbit, Kylo. Thank you for visiting my profile and I look forward to our work together soon!
