Hello! My name is Laura Shafer
... and I am excited to meet you! I was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, and am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Associate. In my psychotherapy, it is important for me to let the client know and feel that we will work together as a team in creating a plan to address their personal conflicts. I choose treatment modalities carefully, based on your individual needs. I believe that personal growth is ongoing and lifelong.
After I graduated from Harlingen High School, I attended Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. I bleed maroon and love my Texas Aggies! I earned my Master of Education in School Counseling and completed a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Lamar University. My goal was to return to the Rio Grande Valley and use my experiences and education to pay it forward. I appreciate all those that guided me throughout my journey as I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley. I consider it a privilege to be able to serve our community.
My favorite pastime is reading. I love to read. My favorite genre is nonfiction but enjoy an occasional science fiction novel. I also enjoy spending time at South Padre Island and traveling with my family.
