Teresa Y. Chapa-Cantú, Ph.D.

Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, Licensed Psychologist

President of Resiliency Psychological Center LLC

Hi, I'm Dr. Chapa-Cantu. I was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. It is a privilege for me to serve my native community as a Licensed Psychologist (What does a psychologist do?) through a range of bilingual (English and Spanish) psychological services to include psychological and educational testing, individual and group psychotherapy, career counseling and planning, supervision of Master's and Doctoral students and post-docs, and psychoeducational presentations/workshops. My special interests include incorporating complementary and alternative medicine (such as meditation and yoga) and using animals and nature to assist in therapeutic healing and emotional growth. Even as a pastime, I love to learn and will often be found reading. But, I also really enjoy traveling, the outdoors, spending time with family, and playing with my "fur babies" (6 pets).

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Texas - Pan American, and was accepted into a Ph.D. program shortly thereafter. At the University of Oklahoma (OU) in Norman, Oklahoma, I earned my Master of Education in Community Counseling, and my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. My doctoral internship was subsequently completed at the Student Counseling Service at Texas A&M University in College Station. I am a current member of the Texas Psychological Association, and the American Psychological Association. From 2014-2019, I served as President Elect-Designate, President, and Past President for the South Texas Psychological Association (STPA).
