Hi there, I am Mariel J. Gonzalez, and am a bilingual and bi-cultural senior Master’s- level counselor.

 

It is my pleasure to help you with your concerns that impacted development across the lifespan. With a strong sense of compassion and commitment, I will encourage you to define goals, plan actions, and, most importantly, gain insight and understanding of yourself through quality counseling services to ensure your well-being. In the process, I integrate research data and evidence-based counseling techniques. My objective is to listen, guide, and interact with my clients who face challenges learn to make informed and healthy decisions about themselves, their relationships, and their future with a collaborative treatment plan.

I graduated from the Counseling and Guidance of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, 2020. I obtained my Bachelor’s in Psychology from UTRGV with a Cum Laude and a Minor in Addiction Studies (substance-related concerns). I have earned my degree as a counselor with a strong focus on Family & Disabilities (addressing the importance of each client’s support network). Child and Adolescence Psychology (cognitive and psychosocial development from infancy to adolescent years), Mental Health (depression, anxiety, adjustment to chronic illness, eating disorders), Development Across the Life Span (identified key achievements in development during the lifelong process), Trauma Focus with TF-CBT (a psychotherapy model for children and adolescents with behavior difficulties related to traumatic experiences), and I am trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

I am a spiritual person whose interests include reading about positive psychology, nature, culinary cuisine, botany, music, art, and interior design.
